WHAT IS SALSA

Salsa is a high-tempo Latin dance, associated with the music genre of the same name, which was first popularized in New York City back in the 1960s. This fun and energetic partner dance is the most popular of all the Latin dance styles because it is easy to learn and is fantastic for all ages and dancing abilities. Born of Latin and Afro-Caribbean roots, the dance is now celebrated all over the world.

FAQ

Do I need experience?
No experience, no problem! Our ‘Beginners’ Salsa classes are the perfect place to start. Come along and learn the basics from scratch. Two left feet are welcome!

Do I need a partner?
A partner is not required for any of our Salsa classes. The structure of our classes gives everyone the opportunity to dance with a partner.

Do I need dance shoes?
No, special dance shoes are not required for our Salsa classes. Just wear shoes that you feel comfortable moving around in and ideally aren’t too grippy on the sole.

What should I wear?
Our salsa students usually wear activewear or just something casual such as jeans and a t-shirt. Your clothing should be comfortable and not restrict your movement.
